Pulaski is located in Pulaski County, of which it is the county seat, between Wytheville and Radford on I-81 in the Western Region of the state. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 9,566, a decrease of 419 since 1990. It was named for Count Casimir Pulaski, hero in the American Revolutionary War.
