Bradford is located in Orange County, 36 miles southeast of Montpelier. It lies on the banks of the Connecticut River off Interstate 91, on the New Hampshire Border.

The town was chartered May 3, 1770. Bradford is unique in Vermont in that it was settled before any grant, charter, or patent existed to cover the land.

The first geographical globes in the United States were fashioned in Bradford by James Wilson, a farmer.

Bradford's population is approximately 2,610.
