Situated in the heart of the Green Mountains, Johnson State College is a public liberal arts and science college comprising 13 buildings on 350 acres. Its enrollment of 1,590 includes 1,388 undergraduates. There are 55 full-time and 53 part-time faculty members and the student/faculty ratio is 16:1. The average class size is 17.

The most popular majors are education, business and psychology. The library contains 100,000 titles.

There are no fraternities or sororities, but more than 35 clubs and organizations exist on campus. The college participates in intercollegiate sports for men and women and has an extensive intramural sports program as well.

The college is part of the Vermont State College System.
