The village of Post Mills, Orange County, is located within the town of Thetford on the pastoral Ompompanoosuc River plain.

An early mill town, it was settled in 1779 by Eldad Post, who bought the land around the falls of the river and constructed the first mill at that site. Over the years, the mills produced linseed oil, fish rods and grain.

Local recreational options include a swimming beach, camps and balloon rides. Points of interest include the Post Mills (Congregational) Church, built in 1818, and the Peabody Library, opened in 1867. Both are listed on the National Register of Properties and Districts.

The community is served by Post Mills Airport.
