Royal City was founded in 1956 and incorporated in 1962.

With a population of 1,104 Royal City has all of the essential services of a community.

Year-round trout and spiny ray fishing make the Royal City area one of the prime fishing spots in the state. Pheasant, duck and goose hunting are also popular.
