Washington is a land of amazing diversity, with a state park system that offers oportunities for many recreational interests. Climb mountains, explore deserts and rain forests, fish and boat in Puget Sound - one of the nation's largest inland waterways - or just relax amid the scenic beauty of Washington's state parks.

Although most parks are open year-round and offer winter recreation such as snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing, some close during the winter.

There are also 40 saltwater marine parks located on Puget Sound or on the San Juan Islands.

To make a reservation at more then 60 Washington state parks, contact Washington State Parks from May 15 to Sept. 15.

For Information on Washington's 125 State Parks, call 800-233-0321, ext. camp 7.
