Near Hyattville, this rock escarpment over the Bighorn Basin is an exciting area to explore due to its steep drainages, stone formations resembling gargoyles, and grotto covered bluffs. It is said that the area is among the best of examples of a dry cold desert badland that also borders a prominent river, the Bighorn River. The area is home to a large variety of Wyoming's wildlife, including sage grouse in the eastern sections, bald and golden eagles, Merlin falcon, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, as well as many other species.
