Johnson County

Johnson County is located in north central Wyoming adjacent to Sheridan County, Campbell County, Natrona County and Washakie County. Buffalo is the largest city in the county, along with Kaycee.

Johnson County is rich in wilderness. Lake DeSmet is in the northern region of the county. It is a large body of water great for water sports and recreation. Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site is not too far, only a few miles west of the lake, and is a great place for sightseeing. The Big Horn Mountains also dip into the western sections of the county from the Bighorn National Forest. The county also contains the famed Clear Creek Trail.
