Cochrane Alberta |
The town is named for Sen. Matthew Henry Cochrane, who initiated the first large-scale cattle ranch in the area back in the 1880s. It's known for its homemade ice cream, hang gliding, horseback riding and canoe trips on the Bow River. The TV show `Lonesome Dove` was filmed at Stoney Indian Reserve, 10 miles west of town.
