Cypress Hills Provincial Park

At one time it was a giant glacier and plateau. First called the 'beautiful highlands' by the Cree, French Canadian fur traders named the area "Cypress" in the early 1800's. Over 7,000 years ago a culture flourished in the area, and fossils of early mammals have been found which date back approximately 40 million years ago. There is a visitor center.
