Arctic Alaska stretches above the Arctic Circle at latitude 66.3, between the Brooks Range to the south and the Arctic Ocean to the north. Canada's Yukon Territory is to the east and Kotzebue is to the west.
Flightseeing tours out of Fairbanks and Anchorage carry visitors to Kotzebue, Barrow and Prudhoe Bay. The area can also be reached by the Dalton Hwy, which was built to support construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline.
The area is home to the Native Eskimo population and its semi-nomadic tribes that still practice their subsistence culture.
