Cordova is located south of
Valdez along Highway 10 at the southeastern end of
Prince William Sound.
The area has historically been home to Aleuts, with the addition of migrating Athabascan and Tlingit natives who called themselves Eyaks. Alaska Natives of other descents also settled in Cordova.
Commercial fishing is a mainstay for Cordova's economy.
