Fort Payne Opera House |
Built in 1889, Fort Payne's Opera House is the only one in the State of Alabama still in use. Built during the city's industrial boom, the establishment has been used as a movie theatre, public forum, and for its intended use, for live theatre. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and the National Register of 19th Century Theatres in America. Completely restored the building is a cultural center of the community operated by Landmarks of DeKalb County, Inc.
