Hillsboro is located in Lawrence County (North Region), along Highway 72 near the Tennessee River and Wheeler Lake.
The city is home to the Pond Spring (Wheeler Plantation) which is just south of Wheeler Lake. The city is north of the William B Bankhead National Forest providing many hiking, and camping availabilities.
