University Of West Alabama is a 4-year public institution, operating under state control, located in Livingston, Sumter County, AL, in on Interstate Highways 20 and 59, United States Highway 11, and Alabama Highway 28. It is 116 miles southwest of Birmingham, 130 miles west of Montgomery, and 37 miles east of Meridian, Mississippi. Students select from 43 programs leading to associates degrees, bachelors degrees and masters degrees.A student-faculty ratio of 18 to 1 assures that faculty members have time to focus on the needs of individual students. Athletic scholarships are given in football, basketball, baseball and various sports. Student housing is available.
