In 1856 tracks were laid by the Memphis and Charleston Railroad company where the city of Madison is located. The city is in Madison County (North Region), just west of Huntsville along Interstate 565.


It was named for Madison County, which was named for President James Madison when the original settlers came to the area.
Some of the attractions in the area include the Madison Aquatic & Recreation Park which house much baseball, basketball, bowling, bicycling, football, and golfing.
The city is full of history with the Clay House Museum showing how it was to live, love and learn in 1850.
