North
Little Rock is located in
Pulaski County north of
Little Rock, between
Conway and
Pine Bluff, serving Interstates 40, 30, 530 and US Hwy's 67, 70 and 165. Also situated on the banks of the
Arkansas River near Lake Maumelle. North Little Rock is part of the
Little Rock-North Little Rock, Arkansas metro area.
In 1866, North Little Rock, originally named Argenta, was surveyed and platted. The name Argenta, meaning silver, referred to the silver mines north of the now North Little Rock.
For this community, many citizens enjoy recreational, cultural, and entertainment attractions with their families. Tennis, jogging, or boating on area lakes, maybe even getting in a few rounds of golf on the 36 hole championship-caliber course at Burns Park are popular attractions.
Higher education for this area includes the University of Arkansas North Little Rock and Pulaski Technical College.
