Camelback Mountain

The city's most prominent landmark, Camelback Mountain, has both beauty and folklore. The Praying Monk rock at the "head" of the "camel" happened, according to folklore, when a monk and his camel tried to cross the hot desert. The camel became too weary to continue and laid down and the monk knelt to pray for it. Legend has it they were both turned to beautiful stone for all the world to remember.

The mountain offers hiking trails, and rock climbing areas.
