Take a trip back in time at Dankworth Village, where the the history of Arizona's Mogollon people comes to life; showcased at the site are the Paleo-Indian (Clovis culture) hunters and the hunter-gatherer Cochise people. A 1/2 mile walk leads to exhibits of reconstructed prehistoric dwellings and use areas typical of these inhabitants. Dankworth also offers scenic hiking trails, picnic facilities, restrooms and fishing in Dankworth Pond (Arizona fishing license required). The view toward Mount Graham reveals desert, oak woodland, and mountain zones. Located 7 miles south of Safford. Requires per car fee to enter; open year-round. You may examine artificats in Dankworth Village but leave them where you find them; do not collect plants, flowers, or rocks.
