The La Posa Long Term Visitor Area includes four campgrounds near Quartzsite, Arizona. The campground entrances are approximately two miles south of town on Highway 95. The unique desert scenery of the 11,400-acre campground includes plants such as Creosote bushes, Palo Verde, Ironwood, Mesquite trees and various cacti. The campground features some paved and improved roads, vault toilets (handicap accessible), dry dump stations (1 with water), an eight-faucet water station, trash services, a dance floor and ramada. Recreation includes cultural sites, rockhounding, watchable wildlife, hiking opportunities, and a rare sense of solitude. A long term visitor permit, valid for seven months, is required September 15 - April 15 each season. A short term permit can be purchased for 1-4 week stays for a lesser fee. Permits may be purchased on site, or at the BLM Yuma Field Office.
