In 1956, plans for a living history museum began with a group of Arizona history enthusiasts. These enthusiasts formed the Pioneer Arizona Foundation. The museum celebrated it's Grand Opening on February 15, 1969. The Pioneer Living History Village is in Phase 1. They welcome field trips from schools, home schools, tour agents, destination planners and communities. There are working blacksmith shops, critter correl, sheriff's office and jail, complete ranch complex, costumed interpreters, cowboys, and lawmen. Pioneer Arizona is recognized as an educational facility, a classroom without walls where children learn to live and appreciate Arizona's Territorial Days. They offer traditional, western/cowboy, garden and victorian weddings.
