Mount Lemmon

Mount Lemmon is the highest peak in the Catalina Mountain Range at 9,157 feet tall. It is the southern-most ski area in the continental United States and it is the only U.S. peak named for the woman who first climbed it.

Mount Lemmon and and Mount Lemmon, a town with the same name, are both located in the Coronado National Forest.

Mt. Lemmon is a very popular getaway for Tucsonans and visitors, especially during the hot summer when temperatures in the valley often remain over 100 degrees F. If you visit in the winter, be sure to bring your ski equipment or snow tires. The busiest times to visit Mt. Lemmon are weekends between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Less travelled days are weekend mornings and many weekdays.

The U.S. Forest Service now charges a fee for those who plan to travel up the mountain. Residents and employees on the mountain are exempt from the new fee.
