Located among Aldergrove's berry fields and dairy farms is the Greater Vancouver Zoological Centre, where 126 species of wildlife from around the world are exhibited. Visitors can stroll the 120 acre grounds, or take the Safari Express Train to see camels, hippos, white rhinos, tigers and zebras. There is also a man-made lake and the Fraser River, where you can fish for sturgeon. Other attractions include hot-air balloon rides, excellent golfing, the Aldergrove Duty Free Store and a fine selection of restaurants and accommodations.

The annual festival began in 1976 with a gift of 1,000 cherry trees to the city of Seattle from the Japanese government to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial.
