Highway 1 (The Transcanada Highway), Ashcroft is strongly tied with the gold rush days. It was a rail point for unloading freight before it was hauled up the Cariboo Wagon Road. The area boasts guest ranches, and a glimpse of Gold Country's history at the Ashcroft Museum.
