North of Clearwater on Highway 5 in the High Country Region, Blue River is home to Murtle Lake, the largest "paddle-only" freshwater lake in North America. The area is popular for canoeing, heli-sightseeing, heli-hiking and heli-fishing. During the winter months, skiers come from all over the world for some of the best heli-skiing to be found.
