Britannia Beach British Columbia |

North of Porteau Cove on the Sea to Sky Highway, lies Britannia Beach, once the location of the incredibly rich copper-producing Britannia Mines. Until closing in 1974, the mines had employed 60,000 people and produced about 56 million tons of copper. Now, the British Columbia Museum of Mining, 19 miles from Horseshoe Bay, conducts tours of the underground mine.
