Endako is located 14 km (9 miles) west of
Fraser Lake on Highway 16. The first Endako post office opened in 1913, with George Cuzner as its postmaster. In 1927, mineralized boulders were found on a ridge near Endako. Discovered by two Fraser Lake residents, Charles Foote and Alfred Langley staked a claim 8.5 kilometers from Endako. In its heyday, the predecessor company of Placer Dome Inc. produced 28,000 tons per day of molybdenite per day in 1980.
It is old town, and has been a major railway center for many years. This was the divisional point for the railway services, and had a large brick locomotive round house and the tallest water tower on the Canadian National Railways line.
It is now a small town with 150 people employed mainly in the railroad and forestry industry.
