Situated 59 km (37 mi) east of 150 Mile House off Highway 97, Horsefly is where the first Cariboo gold was discovered in 1859. The Horsefly River is famous for its catch and release fly fishing and the second largest sockeye run in BC> There are hiking trails along the river leading to Horsefly Falls, up Viewland Mountain, and from Horsefly Lake through old growth cedar to Quesnel Lake.
