Kicking Horse River

The Kicking Horse River, named from the experiences of an early explorer, flows westward from the Rockies to join the Columbia River near Golden. It is renowned for whitewater rafting. The stretch of Highway 1 (The Transcanada Highway) that passes through the canyon is reputed to be the most treacherous section of the entire highway.
