The BC Government operates saltwater routes through
BC Ferries. Inland routes on freshwater are considered to be alternatives to highways, so the government provides the services for free. Management of these ferries is under the Ministry of Transportation and Highways, Marine Branch. The ferries operated by the Ministry are:
