A river in the north Okanagan, the Shuswap River has its headwaters in the Monashee Mountains. It flows first into Sugar Lake. It drains Sugar Lake at the south end, makes a 180 degree turn and feeds Mabel Lake from the south. It flows westward from Mabel Lake until it reaches Enderby, then north into Mara Lake. Mara Lake is joined to Shuswap Lake.
