With a population of nearly 19,000, Terrace is a place where fishermen can come and wade in the Skeena River to catch the mighty Spring Salmon, known for its fighting spirit. One of the largest ever caught on rod and reel...less than 5 km from town weighed 42 kg. Also at the river, and unique to the Terrace area, is the Kermodei bear, a sub-species of the Black Bear.
The city of Terrace offers well-stocked sporting goods stores, shopping malls, and lots of friendly people with tips about the best fishing spots. The area is also famous for wildlife viewing areas where you might see moose, eagles, wolves or bears.
