Described as "a wilderness paradise in the purest, most natural sense", the Valemount area lies at the northern reaches of Yellowhead Highway 5 in the High Country region. The village's population is 1,155, and its primary industries are forestry and tourism. Valemount has all the services and accommodations necessary for visitors, and serves as a nice base camp for those planning to heli-hike, horseback ride, raft, canoe or take a guided nature tour.
