Zeballos

Twenty-six miles by gravel road from Highway 19, lies the village of Zeballos (pop. 250). Here is a place where you can really unwind beside the sea. Wilderness camping and fishing, as well as excellent walking, hiking, photography and painting opportunities provide a sense of freedom to those who travel here. Ocean kayakers put in at Zeballos to explore the Zeballos and Esperanza Inlets. Local history is apparent in the still-active gold mines, an unused iron mine and the local museum which displays artifacts and a depiction of Zeballos' early days. Accommodations include a hotel, motels, two lodges, an RV site and three campsites. Complete services and shopping are available in this Nootka Sound community on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island.
