Bree, population 14,000, lies in the northeast corner of Flanders. The very northernmost tip of Bree kisses the Dutch border. The Bocholt-Herentals Canal passes by the town center.
Beek, Gerdingen, Opitter, and Tongerlo are boroughs within the municipal district of Bree. (There is another Tongerlo in Westerlo, Antwerpen province.)
