The Chateau de Tavigny was reworked in the 18th century, making the transition from medieval fortress to country home. The oldest part of the complex is the 10 meter square central keep, with narrow slit windows opening through walls 2 meters thick. At one point, the keep appears to have been taller than it is now. Two round towers were set to defend it; all these buildings are now united and interconnected by the main building.
The Chateau de Tavigny now functions as a hotel and restaurant.
