The Experimental Garden of Jean Massart, named for its founder, a botany professor at ULB (Universite Libre de Brussels) was established in 1920. Today, it houses two research centers, one on vegetable biotechnology, and one on ecology. The public exhibits at the Garden include an evolutionary garden with plants grouped by family and organized from most primitive to most advanced, a collection of medicinal plants, a historical collection of food crops, an orchard, and an arboretum.
