The Foundation for Contemporary Belgian Art has sponsored, supported, and presented the work of Belgian visual artists since 1981. In addition to organizing gallery showings in diverse locations, the Foundation maintains a museum at the Portal de Hal with important works from the 20th century forward. Genres represented include Brabantine Fauvism, the Plastique Pure (Pure Aesthetics) movement of the 1920s, post-war abstractionism, and various movements from the years 1950-1990.
