Kunsthal St. Peters Abbey

After the French Revolution brought an end to monastic life at St. Peters abbey, the property was bought by the city of Gent, and it served as a military barracks until 1946. Since then, it has housed temporary exhibitions.

The most impressive building in the Abbey complex is the baroque abbey church, begun in 1629. The temporary exhibitions are open all year; the abbey itself may be toured during the warm season.
