Theater and Museum of Toone

Muse du Thtre de Toone VII

Search Brussels

The Theatre of Toone presents puppet shows aimed at an adult audience, in a quirky space located just a few steps from the Brussels Grand Place. The Theater's Museum features retired puppets from Toone and from around the world, a video library, a reading library, and the workshop in which new puppets are fabricated. Admission to the museum during the show's intermission is included with the price of a theater ticket.

The original "Toone" was born in 1804 and had his inaugural season in 1836. The current puppetmaster is "Toone VII", but the title is not hereditary -- it is passed to the most gifted and appropriate candidate regardless of lineage, and subject to the approval of the current Toone and the public.

A welcoming tavern located in the same building as the theater serves a wide variety of Belgian beers.
