Raeren Castle and Pottery Museum

Search Raeren

Much of the Castle of Raeren dates from the fourteenth century, though the towers with the crenelated turrets were installed quite recently.

The region surrounding the town of Raeren is known for a particular style of pottery originating some time around the 16th century, a grey salt-glazed stoneware decorated with brown, cobalt blue, or manganese purple. The Pottery Museum housed within Raeren Castle contains several hundred examples of this style.
