Tongerlo Abbey and Da Vinci Museum

Search Westerlo-Tongerlo

Tongerlo village, now a borough within the commune of Westerlo, takes its name from Tongerlo Abbey, a sprawling complex founded in 1130. At the site you will find the Da Vinci Museum, which contains a high quality copy of The Last Supper executed 20 years after the original by either Da Vinci himself or a student. Tongerlo Beer, one of the more popular Belgian abbey brews, was formulated by the monks of Tongerlo Abbey.
