Particular detail is made to have on hand items one might find available before 1880. Books that research early America, history of California, it's gold discoveries, on the infamous and the famous, local Indian tribes, reproduced text or craft manuals, journals and diaries of the women and the gold seekers, as well as special order items are available.

The Columbia Gazette, situated in the beautiful Columbia State Historic Park, has a working letter press and is an example of a country style print shop in a 19th century town. A special interpretive demonstration program is offered year round for schools and groups.

The shop is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Winter hours are 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
