Glendale

Glendale is located in Greater Los Angeles on the northeastern city limits of Los Angeles, between Burbank and Pasadena. It lies along Interstate 5 near the Angeles National Forest.

The city was founded on a portion of a ranch that had been Spanish California's first land grant in 1784. The community's swift growth in the 1880s was a result of Southern Pacific Railroad's extension into the San Fernando Valley. The city was platted in 1887 and incorporated in 1906.

Today Glendale, population 194,973, is a growing suburb of Los Angeles with a diversified manufacturing base. Cinematic technology and animation industries also infuse its economy. Points of interest include the 1860s-era Casa Adobe de San Rafael; and extensive Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where a number of the region s past notable personalities are buried.

There is also a Glendale, Kentucky.
