It serves a population of approximately 650,000. The Medical Center provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and ancillary services, and is the largest provider of health care services and the only hospital with physician residency programs in Kern County. As the only trauma center, the only adult psychiatric evaluation and inpatient care facility, one of only two inpatient pediatric care facilities, and the only major referral hospital for the entire county of Kern, KMC provides an environment rich in pathology and opportunities for learning.
