Highland Hospital opened its doors to the community in 1927. What is well known is that as its core mission, Highland provides an assured source of care for all County residents, regardless of ability to pay.

Highland Hospital, as well as all of Alameda County Medical Center's facilities are in compliance with CA. CCR Title 22 and Federal OBRA standards. They received a full three-year accreditation in October, 2000 from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO.) Individual units of the Medical Center meet specialty licensing and accreditation standards as well.
