Mission San Antonio de Pala

Originally a branch of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, the first buildings were constructed in 1810. The mission itself was built in 1826 as part of a planned second series of inland Spanish Missions. It fell into disrepair, however, during the period of secularization. The mission has since been restored and is open to the public. It includes a museum, mineral room, gardens and chapel. Free admission to the mission; a small charge for the museum. Open daily except Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
