The museum is devoted to both regional history and natural history. The historic exhibits cover life in California and the Southwest between 1540 and 1940, U.S. history from the colonial period to World War I, as well as archaeology from the time before Columbus.
The natural history exhibits include detailed habitats of African, North American and exotic mammals, as well as birds, insects, marine life, fossils, and a large mineral collection.
Open daily except Mondays from September to May, New Years, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Admission is charged.
