San Pasqual Battlefield State Park

This 50-acre park commemorates the American takeover of California. Both General Stephan Kearny and Andres Pico claimed victory in the bloody engagement between Dragoons and Californians at this site. A visitor center and museum present the action in video, maps and diorama.

The park is located next to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, 8 miles south of Escondido on Hwy 78 and is open Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
