Woodland Opera House State Historic Park

Originally built in 1885, and rebuilt in 1896, after being destroyed by fire, the Woodland Opera House became a stopping place for many actors, musicians, and entertainers including John Phillip Sousa and his band, Nance O'Neill, comics Weber and Fields and Sidney Greenstreet. The Opera House was closed and boarded up due to an injury lawsuit. In 1971, the Yolo County Historical Society purchased the building. The Woodland Opera House was declared a California State Historical Park in 1976 and donated to the state in 1980. The restoration work began in 1981. The interior of the Opera House was painstakingly restored to the grandeur it enjoyed at the turn of the century. It is now offers live entertainment on a year-round basis.

Located in historic downtown Woodland at the corner of Main and Second, the park is two walking blocks from 8 restaurants and there is plenty of safe, off-street parking.
